SF Airlines, China’s largest air cargo carrier by fleet size, has expanded its global reach with the launch of a new direct cargo route connecting Urumqi and Islamabad. This strategic move is set to boost trade and e-commerce logistics between China and Pakistan, reinforcing economic ties under the Belt and Road Initiative.

A Key Trade Corridor for Air Cargo

The newly established route, which commenced operations on March 4, 2024, deploys a Boeing 757-200 freighter with a capacity exceeding 110 tons per week. Operating twice weekly, the service adds a crucial link between China’s Xinjiang region and Pakistan’s capital, complementing SF Airlines’ existing network that includes Karachi and Lahore.

“With the rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce and logistics demand, this new route is a game-changer for China-Pakistan trade,” an SF Airlines spokesperson stated. “Our goal is to provide efficient, reliable, and scalable cargo solutions that support economic growth in both nations.”

Strategic Impact on China-Pakistan Trade Relations

The launch of this cargo link aligns with the objectives of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative aimed at enhancing infrastructure and trade connectivity between the two countries. The Urumqi-Islamabad corridor will facilitate the swift movement of perishable goods, industrial products, and high-demand e-commerce shipments.

“This new air route is not just about logistics; it represents a deeper economic integration between China and Pakistan,” remarked a senior logistics analyst. “It enhances supply chain efficiency, reduces transit times, and fosters bilateral trade expansion.”

SF Airlines: Expanding Global Logistics Influence

With a fleet of 89 dedicated freighters, SF Airlines continues to broaden its international footprint. The company operates a mix of Boeing 737, 747, 757, and 767 aircraft, ensuring flexibility across different cargo volumes and trade routes. As demand for air freight escalates, SF Airlines is positioning itself as a dominant player in Asia’s fast-evolving logistics sector.

What’s Next for SF Airlines?

Industry experts predict further expansions into Central and South Asia, with additional routes likely to be introduced in the coming months. SF Airlines’ aggressive growth strategy and commitment to high-efficiency cargo solutions indicate its strong intent to solidify its leadership in the global freight industry.
